A connective word used in logic. The sentence "p and q", in which "p" and "q" are the component sentences (the conjuncts), is true only if both "p" and "q" are true. Three symbols, "", "&", or "·", are used to represent "and." The symbol used depends on the preference of each individual. The following truth table illustrates the operation of "and:"
