Euclidean geometry
-
-
A branch of geometry based on the postulates of Euclid, which, in three-dimensional space, corresponds to our intuitive ideas of what space is like. This subject is based on a number of definitions such as point and line together with a number of postulates about geometric properties. For example, that two points determine a straight line is one of the postulates. With the help of those postulates and rigorous logic, a large number of theorems were proved, which developed the foundation of Euclidean geometry.
