integration
The technique of calculating the approximate value of an area under a curve y = f(x) by summing the areas of small rectangles. As the width of the rectangles approaches zero, the number of rectangles increases infinitely, and the area of each rectangle approaches the true area that each rectangle tries to approximate. As a result, the sum of the rectangular areas approaches the true area under the curve.

Integration is the inverse process of differentiation in calculus.
